THE IMPORTANCE OF THE PROTECTION OF CHILDREN’S RIGHTS IN THE EDUCATION OF SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN

Abstract. Respect for human rights forms the basis for the establishment of legal rights. The article sets as its primary goal the study of issues such as the protection and freedoms of children in the Republic of Azerbaijan, state policy on children, the main principles of state bodies regarding their protection, and the duties of other legal and physical entities, in accordance with international legal norms, such as the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the European Convention on Human Rights, and other international legal frameworks. Furthermore, it addresses the investigation of existing problems in the implementation of the right to education for school-age children. One of the highlighted problems is the importance of both parents’ roles in the upbringing of a child and raising them as a worthy citizen of society. Any division of responsibilities in this matter is deemed unacceptable, and both the father and mother must share the responsibility equally. Along with the parents, this responsibility also falls on the teacher, as the child spends most of their time at school. In this regard, the proper establishment of the parent-teacher-student partnership is a crucial factor in ensuring the child’s educational and upbringing process. The article emphasizes the protection of children’s rights and freedoms in the Republic of Azerbaijan in accordance with international legal norms, the awareness of school-age children about their rights, and the state policy conducted in this direction.

Keywords: international practice, children’s rights, right to education, protection of children, compulsory education in primary education.
