OUR NATIONAL EDUCATION HISTORY – IRAVAN TEACHERS’ SEMINARY
Abstract. The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, issued an order on the celebration of the 140th anniversary of the Iravan Teachers’ Seminary. It is noted in the order that the city of Iravan has historically gained fame as one of the great centers of science, education, and culture where Azerbaijanis live. Many rep resentatives of public education, education, literature, culture, and art in Azerbaijan received their first pedagogical education in Gori and Iravan teachers’ seminaries. The creation and development of the science of pedagogy in Azerbaijan, a whole period of public education are connected with the activities of the graduates of Gori and Iravan teacher’s seminaries. Although the Iravan Teachers’ Seminary, established in November 1881, was established in the interests of the tsarist government in the region, it played an important role in the literary, social, scientific, and cultural life of the Azerbaijani people. The decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev in connection with the 140th anniversary of the Iravan Teachers’ Seminary is proof of how this seminary left a deep mark in history.
