THE EFFECTIVENESS OF TABLET-BASED TASKS IN DEVELOPING LITERACY AND DIGITAL COMPETENCIES IN PRESCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN

Abstract. The study investigates the role of tablet-based tasks in the development of literacy and digital competencies among preschool-aged children. The main focus of the research is how digital technologies are becoming one of the key tools that stimulate learning in early childhood, how tablets, by providing interactive and visual learning opportunities, increase children’s motivation, and how mobile applications lead to significant progress in letter recognition, sound symbol correspondence, and reading comprehension. The analysis shows that the purposeful use of tablets is beneficial for improving children’s literacy outcomes and developing digital skills, as well as for supporting the formation of cause and-effect relationships, sustaining attention, and strengthening memory. How ever, this process must take place under the supervision of the educator/teacher and be guided by clear pedagogical objectives. Consequently, tablet-based tasks are regarded as an important resource for enhancing the quality of teaching. The study evaluates this approach as one of the modern and effective methods in preschool education and emphasizes that the systematic and purposeful use of tablets in instruction has a positive impact on children’s overall development.
