PROBLEMS OF TRANSLATING CULTURE-LOADED TERMS IN CONFUCIAN PHILOSOPHY FROM CHINESE INTO AZERBAIJANI:AN ANALYSIS BASED ON CONFUCIUS’ THE ANALECTS
Abstract. The article analyzes the translation methods and strategies employed in rendering culture-loaded lexical items related to Confucian philosophy into the Azerbaijani language. The application of translati on methods and their practical outcomes are presented through concrete examples. The article also provides an extensive explanation of key concepts such as Confucian philosophy and culture-loaded words. At present, only a limited number of works related to Confucian philosophy have been translated, and there has been almost no systematic research in this field. During the process of translating Confucius’s most renowned work, The Analects (compiled by his disciples), from the original Chinese into Azerbaijani, nearly one hundred culture-loaded lexical items were rendered into the Azerbaijani language.The article places significant em phasis on translation methods and draws on the research of well-known translation theorists. In addition, it explains the translation process of a number of culture-loaded terms that constitute the core ideas of Confucian philosophy, and highlights the importance of accurately translating such terms within the context of intercultural dialogue.
