LEADERSHIP STRATEGIES AIMED AT PROMOTING READING HABITS IN PRIMARY GRADES
Abstract. The article analyzes the theoretical and scholarly foundations, as well as the practical mechanisms, of leadership strategies employed by teachers and school administrators to foster and develop reading habits among primary school students. Alongside the implementation of standardized educational models, particular emphasis is placed on the importance of promoting reading as a multidimensional activity encompassing cognitive, emotional, and social components. The article discusses the effects of emotional engagement in the reading process on memory consolidation and the focusing of attention, and analyzes its contribution to the development of metacognitive strategies related to text comprehension. It is noted that the reading habits and attitudes formed during the primary school years serve as a long-term investment that shapes a child’s future academic trajectory, psycho-emotional resilience, and social integration. The article considers the organization of reading instruction in primary education programs on the basis of a multidimensional approach, together with the application of methods grounded in observation, experience, and scientific research, as one of the priority areas of pedagogical practice. The main purpose of the study is to determine the impact of reading activities at the primary education level on the development of students’ thinking, language, and creative skills, as well as to propose effective strategies in this field based on a multidimensional approach.
