The article discusses the consideration of gender characteristics in the organization of labor activity of preschool children. It is noted that the preschool age is an important period in the development of children’s gender role and the emergence of gender identity. From the moment a child realizes his or her self, the category of «gender» takes precedence, and his or her self-identification begins at the age of 1.5 years. At this age, he already knows that he is a «boy» or a «girl». Although children between the ages of 1, 5, and 3 try to learn the right attitudes toward themselves, women, or men, their level of understanding of gender differences is limited. One of the factors that increases the effectiveness of this process is to take into account the gender approach in the process of creating interest and love for work in children in preschool. During this period, children of different genders can master the labor of women and men in special classes. Here, the use of fairy tale characters that reflect the labor activity of both genders, at the same time, has a positive effect on the process of their identification.
