CHARACTERISTICS OF DEVELOPMENT OF FINE MOTORS OF PUPILS WITH DOWN SYNDROME
Abstract. Fine motor skills are very important for the general functioning of children. Their development is necessary for many daily activities, for example, dressing, feeding, holding objects, etc. In addition, fine motor skills are also associated with children’s academic success in school. Recent studies show a close relationship between motor skills and intelligence. Given the relative paucity of literature on fine motor skills in different etiological groups of children with intellectual disabilities, we investigated these skills in children with Down syndrome. The sample for this study consisted of 50 children aged 7–15 years with mental retardation, divided into 3 etiological group: 1. Down syndrome; 2. organic /other genetic cause of mental retardation; 3. unknown etiology of mental retardation.
