INTEGRATION OF THE STEAM APPROACH INTO THE PRESCHOOL EDUCATION CURRICULUM

Abstract. The article provides a scientifically grounded analysis of the inte gration of the STEAM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) into the preschool education curriculum within the context of con temporary pedagogical trends. The study emphasizes the development of creativity and innovative thinking skills in children through a project-based learn ing model, the support of social-emotional learning (SEL), and the organization of integrative, interdisciplinary instruction across developmental domains and learning activities within real-life contexts. Particular attention is given to the formation of early mathematical and logical thinking skills, as well as the de velopment of environmental awareness through nature-oriented activities in the preschool educational environment. The article substantiates, with reference to relevant scientific literature, that the STEAM approach contributes not only to the development of academic competencies but also to the cultivation of social responsibility, collaboration, empathy, and environmental consciousness among children. The article highlights the pedagogical contribution of the STEAM ap proach to the formation of a flexible curriculum model in preschool education that is based on children’s interests and real-life experiences.
