Abstract. In the article, referring to sources and research works, it is justified that the ancient city of Iravan has nothing to do with Armenians. The city of Iravan occupied a unique place among Azerbaijani cities not only with its historical and architectural monuments but also as a center of science and culture. The names of hundreds of science, culture, art and religious figures who were born and raised in the city of Iravan are engraved in the history of Azerbaijan. Scholars, chroniclers, and researchers who visited Iravan at different times described the city of Iravan as a developed center of science and culture in the East. The article highlights the fact that the Armenians gradually erased the traces of material and cultural samples belonging to the Azerbaijanis, which were abandoned in Iravan for hundreds of years, and the transformation of the city of Iravan into a mono-ethnic Armenian city.
