THE EFFECT OF THE IRAVAN TEACHERS’ SEMINARY ON THE TRAINING OF AZERBAIJAN TEACHERS

Abstract. In the article, in the context of the process of «Armenization» of the Iravan Khanate in tsarist Russia and during the Soviet period, the main features brought by the Soviet period to the struggle of Azerbaijani national intellectuals are examined in the historical-pedagogical aspect. It is noted that the Iravan Teachers’ Seminary was not only an educational institution, but also played a major role in the development and formation of Azerbaijani literature, culture, and art in Iravan. It is also noted that the seminary, which was forced to close due to the Armenian-Muslim massacres in Iravan in 1918, was unable to resume its activities, but intellectuals from Iravan continued their struggle even during the years of Soviet rule, for the restoration of the school’s activities they fought seriously.
