INVESTIGATION OF PRESCHOOL CHILDREN’S SPEECH DELAY IN TERMS OF LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT
Abstract. By revealing the opinions in the literature about the Cultural Historical Theory developed by Vygotsky, which is one of the important reflections of the preschool period, private speech behavior, environmental and genetic development approaches, to clarify the areas where it can be used in education and daily life and to prevent speech delay in preschool children. is intended to be explained. In this study, first of all, language and speech development periods are defined and the developmental process in these periods is explained according to Vygotsky’s perspective and the developmental periods of children. Afterwards, children’s self-directed speech behavior, its types and formation process, the purposes it serves, environmental and genetic developmental periods are introduced, and the differences between Piaget and Vygotsky about self-directed speech behavior in children’s developmental periods are presented. Finally, examples of the applications of children’s self-directed speech in daily life are given, and methods that teachers and adults can use to encourage this type of speech in the preschool period and to introduce developmental periods are explained.
